如何说“排行榜” 有这样一句话：这本书在畅销排行榜上名列前茅。
有人翻译为“This book ranks first on the ranking list of best-sellers.”。
其实“list of best-sellers”自身已经有序列的含义，“ranking”作为形容词意思是“高级别的”，用在这里是累赘，与“rank first”重复，应该删去。
因此这句话只要翻译为“This book ranks first on the list of best-sellers.”就可以了。
“排行榜”可以翻译成“list”，“畅销书排行榜”则是“best-seller list, list of best-sellers, list of best-selling books”。
例如“The bookstore publishes a list of best sellers regularly.”（这家书店定期公布畅销书排行榜。）
“名列首位”可以用“to come first, to rank first, to be ranked first”来表示。
英语(Q吧)“chart”的意思是“销售图表”，“pop charts”是“流行歌曲排行榜”，“music charts”则是“流行音乐排行榜”。例如“Radio stations usually play songs that are top of the charts.”（广播电台经常播放音乐流行榜上名列榜首的歌曲。）
“奖牌排行榜”可以翻译为“medal rankings, medal standings, medal tally, medal table.”。例如“The Chinese Diving Team has maintained their leading position in the medal rankings.”（中国跳水队保持了在奖牌榜上的领先地位。） |
